Former TNA Wrestling World Champion Josh Alexander is set to become a free agent this week, with rumors swirling about his in-ring future.

Alexander’s plans to leave TNA Wrestling have been well known with the star previously discussing potential opponents in WWE, AEW and over in Japan during a podcast interview.

The former TNA World Champion had confirmed that his contract was set to expire in February, going on to note that this will be the first time he had been in such a position.

Fightful Select has now confirmed that Alexander will, indeed, be a free agent come Saturday (February 15).

The report notes that Alexander’s potential exit had been known about for “well over a year”.

It was also stated that Alexander had asked TNA Wrestling to not pick up his 2024 option year, although they would decide to do so,

Alexander honored the deal which expires on Friday 14, 2025, with TNA Wrestling noted as speaking highly of the soon to be departed star.

At the time of writing, it isn’t known where Alexander will end up during his free agency period.

Alexander signed a three-year deal with TNA Wrestling in February 2019 and would go on to become a two-time Impact World Champion and World Tag Team Champion (with Ethan Page) as well as being a former X Division Champion.

The departing TNA Wrestling star has recently commented on the possibility of reuniting with Page who currently performs on WWE NXT.

Alexander has also previously revealed that plans for a WWE debut were scrapped which could have seen him appear on NXT.

His first TNA World Championship reign would be cut short at Bound For Glory in October 2021 with Moose cashing in his Call Your Shot Gauntlet trophy after Alexander beat Christian Cage for the title.

Conversely, Alexander’s second reign would be the longest in TNA history and saw him defeat Moose at Rebellion in April 2022, going on to the title being vacated at the March 2023 tapings due to the champion requiring surgery.
