The Hardys’ WWE in-ring return on this week’s WWE NXT (February 25) will set an interesting new company record.
On last week’s NXT (February 18) the No Quarter Catch Crew’s Tavion Heights and Myles Borne called out “the greatest tag team of all-time” Matt and Jeff Hardy for a match on this Tuesday’s show, a challenge that was swiftly accepted by the TNA World Tag Team Champions.
The Hardys have not wrestled together on WWE TV since April 2019, but it’s not just a six year absence that the legendary duo will be breaking.
As highlighted by WWE Stats on Twitter, Matt Hardy’s return to a WWE NXT ring will set a new record for the longest gap between NXT matches of any star in the brand’s history.
Matt competed on the very first season of NXT back in March 2010, 15 years prior to his match on this Tuesday’s NXT.
The previous record holder before Matt was Carlito, who had a 13 years and nine months between NXT appearances.

The new record for longest gap between matches in a #WWENXT ring will soon belong to @MATTHARDYBRAND. He competed in the original “Season 1” of NXT in March of 2010 and will get back into @WWENXT action this week – 15 years later – on @TheCW. https://t.co/piepe7Lm7H
