Brian James, known to many as ‘Road Dogg’, had an interest in WWE signing TNA Wrestling producer Jimmy Jacobs.
Jacobs previously worked in the WWE creative team from 2015 to 2017, prior to joining TNA Wrestling.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Shining Wizards podcast. Jacobs revealed that Brian James went to bat for him when he was looking to get a job at WWE.
Noting that when he was working for TNA Wrestling (then-IMPACT) he was hoping that James would join TNA, Jacobs said:
“Road Dogg’s great. He went to bat for me when I was trying to get a job at WWE. I think he’s great. He’s great. He’s very creative.
“When I was working for IMPACT, him and his brother Scott (Armstrong) came in for one show and I was hoping that we would acquire them but, I think, at least Brian, at least went back to WWE at that point. He’s a great asset to have on the team.”
Jacobs would head to AEW after his TNA Wrestling departure in June 2023 and would remain with the Tony Khan-led company until October 2024.
During his time in AEW, he served as a member of creative and as a producer.
It was recently reported that James is the co-lead of the WWE SmackDown writing team alongside John Swikata.
James is also still in charge of creative at WWE live events, serving as the Senior Vice President of Live Events.
