Having last competed against each other in 2016, The Hardys and the Dudley Boyz appear to have teased a potential match.
Fans could be set to see the two legendary WWE teams square off once again, if recent comments are anything to go by.
During a recent Battleground Podcast interview, Matt Hardy noted that the TNA Tag Team Champions were ready to step into the ring with Bubba Ray (Bully Ray) and D’Von Dudley once again, saying:
“Please. I think we’re ready. Are you ready? Myself and Jeff, we’re 100% ready.
“We’re up every morning, we’re doing our ice baths, our cold plunges, we’re busting our ass, we’re working out, we’re trying to stay in tip-top shape, to be middle-aged men. We are ready.
“We would love to face the middle-aged Dudleys. So as long as Bully and D-Von, they’re ready to rock and roll, we are ready at the drop of a dime. We’ll put the TNA titles up.”
Bully Ray would react to the challenge from his former WWE rival in a post shared on his own Twitter account, stating:
“Heard Matt Hardy’s comments.
“There’s no Team left @ThisIsTNA for the Hardys to wrestle. Thats why they ‘called us out.’
“We are 2x TNA Tag Champs and the only team in TNA HOF. Matt and Jeff can never surpass us.
“The Hardys NEED the Dudleys… And they know it.”
The Hardy Boyz and the Dudley Boyz last shared the ring together at HOG VI in December 2016, taking part in a four-way match that included Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) and EYFBO (Angel Ortiz & Mike Draztik).
When it comes to two-on-two tag-team matches, the June 27, 2014 episode of iMPACT Wrestling saw Team 3D take on The Hardy Boyz on television screens for the first time since WWE Survivor Series in 2001.
The Hardys recently successfully defended the TNA World Tag Team Championship against WWE NXT’s Fraxiom (Axiom & Nathan Frazer).
Matt Hardy has recently teased the possibility of the TNA World Tag Team Championship being defended on main roster WWE programming
