AJ Styles has responded to the claims that WWE turned down the opportunity to have the star inducted into the TNA Wrestling Hall of Fame.
It was recently reported that Styles, along with Monty Brown, were considered for induction in this year’s TNA Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Actual inductees for this year’s class were Bob Ryder and Rhino with the possibility of Styles being, reportedly, passed up by WWE.
AJ Styles has now addressed his omission from this year’s TNA Wrestling Hall of Fame by responding to a now deleted post from a Twitter user that suggested Styles’ omission “has Triple H written all over it” and that it was a “bad decision by WWE”.
In a tweet from his own account, AJ Styles responded by stating:
“I’m still an active wrestler…I hope.
“I made the decision not to go into the TNA HOF, not WWE.
“I appreciate TNA, but I don’t want to go into any HOF as long as I’m still active. My choice.”
Styles had a storied run in TNA Wrestling from 2002 until 2014, signing with WWE in 2016 after a run in NJPW.
During his TNA Wrestling tenure, he would become the first TNA Grand Slam Champion as well as being the inaugural X Division Champion among the many accolades he went on to hold.
His recent WWE SmackDown match against Carmelo Hayes was stopped due to injury, with Styles later confirming the severity of the injury.
With WWE and TNA Wrestling having a working relationship, Gail Kim previously stated that it would be a “dream come true” to see Styles back in the company.
It has been reported that AJ Styles’s WWE contract is due to expire either later this year or early in 2025.
WrestleTalk wishes AJ Styles well as he recovers from his recent injury.
