Mike Santana has his sights set on a match against WWE’s AJ Styles, with it taking place in a TNA Wrestling ring.
With WWE and TNA Wrestling in a multi-year partnership, the relationship has seen NXT stars appear on their partner’s programming and vice versa.
With AJ Styles’ history in TNA Wrestling, a potential return for the Phenomenal One is something that has been discussed on social media.
Santana has now thrown his name into the hat as a potential opponent should AJ Styles make a return to TNA Wrestling.
Speaking on a recent episode of the MuscleManMalcolm podcast, Santana set out his goals, calling Styles the face of TNA Wrestling.
Santana would praise Styles’ accomplishments before revealing that he wants to face the WWE star in a TNA ring, saying:
“AJ Styles. TNA was the place that put me on the map, as far as a big audience, and he is hands down the face of TNA.
“He is the number one homegrown talent, and I consider myself one of those homegrown talents from TNA.
“He is one of the best in the world, and for me to be able to go head-to-head with him and elevate myself and learn from him, I think it would be amazing.
“To me, that’s my ultimate…I just had a dream match with KENTA, he was one of them, and AJ Styles is definitely another one. I want it in a TNA ring.”
Styles signed with TNA Wrestling in May 2002 (when it was known as NWA: Total Nonstop Action) and would remain with the company until December 2013.
A return to the independent scene, including Ring of Honor, would take him up to signing his first WWE contract in January 2016.
In TNA Wrestling, Styles is a two-time Grand Slam Champion, with his WWE career seeing him become a Grand Slam Champion.
Santana returned to TNA Wrestling in April 2024 having left AEW in March of that year.
