Recent reports have emerged that Rusev – formerly Miro in AEW- is set for a WWE return, and his former tag partner has reacted.
On April 2, 2025, it was reported that Rusev had signed with WWE and was at the Stamford headquarters according to multiple sources.
Rusev was released from his WWE contract in April 2020, debuting in AEW that September before he parted ways with the company in February 2025.
With the former United States Champion seemingly heading back to WWE, his former Rusev Day tag partner has reacted to a question as to whether he would join him.
Rusev Day saw the Bulgarian star team with Aidan English, currently known as Matthew Rehwoldt on the TNA Wrestling commentary team.
English was famous for his singing prowess, something that was noted by a Twitter user.
With the user pitching for Rehwoldt to return to WWE, Rehwoldt responded:
“…they have my number ”
Also a subject of budget cuts, English was released from his WWE contract in April 2020, heading to the independent circuit before landing in TNA Wrestling in July 2021.
In 2022, Rehwoldt would retire as a wrestler in order to focus on his commentary role having replaced D’lo Brown on commentary earlier that year.
TNA Wrestling and WWE are currently in a multi-year partnership that sees stars from TNA and NXT appear on each other’s shows.
