TNA Wrestling’s Joe Hendry made his WWE NXT debut on June 18 in the NXT Championship No. 1 Contender Battle Royal.
The second to last entrant in the Battle Royal, he would be promptly eliminated, being the first man over the top rope.
Footage from his all-too-brief appearance, including the thunderous reception he received, can be seen below this news story.
Hendry wasn’t happy with his elimination, and nor were the fans if the video below this news story is anything to go by.
Storming backstage while chants of what may be “bullsh*t” rang out in the venue, an incensed Hendry said:
“Did you see that? King of TNA, he took the first shot.”
Hendry would find Shawn Michaels backstage and had words for the Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, saying:
“Oh, and if it isn’t Shawn Michaels. Was that your idea out there? Twenty-four men against me? Joe Hendry vs NXT?
“Well, you know what, Shawn, I can show up anywhere, anytime on any show.
“All you gotta do is say his name.”
Shawn Michaels wouldn’t be silent about this either, stating very simply:
“I believe.”
It was previously reported that Joe Hendry has long had admirers on the NXT brand, particularly for his comedic ability and charisma.
It was also noted that one WWE talent stated that they would be “shocked” if Hendry was not planned for a WWE appearance at some point and noted that it would be a “lapse in judgment” if he were not a part of the NXT-TNA crossover.
The crossover between WWE and TNA is “far from over” according to the belief among talent.
