The June 18 episode of NXT saw the return of Frankie Kazarian to WWE after an absence of almost nineteen years.
Kazarian, along with Joe Hendry, represented TNA Wrestling in the NXT Championship No. 1 Contender Battle Royal.

Shawn Michaels addressed the WWE return of Kazarian on Twitter, sharing a backstage photo of the pair chatting with the message:
“You just never know who will stop by #WWENXT”
Kazarian reposted the tweet with a message of his own referencing Michaels’ during his DX days, saying:
“And if you’re not down with that, I got two words for ya…
“#KingofTNA”
Kazarian signed with WWE in early 2005 having left TNA Wrestling on February 25 of that year.
His time in WWE was short with Kazarian departing in August 2005, stating that he asked for his release due to lack of plans to revamp the cruiserweight division.
